We may have only recently appeared in the estimating software community, but we’re incorporating a unique technological expertise that has been developing 
for nearly 30 years. Our unique estimating software emerged from a lack of suitable applications available on the market and was never intended to become a commercial product. After extensive development in recent years it was decided that it wasn’t fair to keep something so valuable to ourselves. We are proud to now offer a commercially available product that we hope will some day be the industry standard in the contractor community.
A family legacy
Spanning three generations deep and several families wide, there is no name as prominent as Orfield in the Minnesota contractor community. The co-founders of Clear Estimates Software are a father-son team of the nationally recognized Orfield Remodeling, Inc. in Minneapolis. The fact that Orfield Remodeling received three National Contractor of the Year Awards (NARI, 2005 & two in 2006), five Remodeling of Merit Awards (ROMA, 2006), and was recognized as one of the top 50 remodeling companies in the nation by Remodeling magazine (May 2003) is a testament of our reputation in the industry.
Wally Orfield saved up money from a paper-route to buy and remodel his first house at the age of 14. He remodeled homes to pay his way through the University of Minnesota school of architecture, then shortly thereafter made waves in the remodeling community with his dramatic conversions of historic apartment buildings into condominiums. Later he returned to his roots in residential remodeling, where he has been satisfying customers for 26 years.
Nolan Orfield entered the family business as soon as he was old enough to swing a hammer. He quickly climbed the ranks in the field until it was discovered that his computer skills suited him better for estimating and job-costing. Nolan graduated from the University of Notre Dame’s College of Engineering in 2003 and has dedicated his time since to developing Clear Estimates to share with the rest of the industry.
