[Important] PDF Issue for Microsoft Windows + Google Chrome + McAfee Extension
UPDATE: McAfee has released a fix to this issue. To try the new version, first remove the McAfee Webadvisor extension. Then, click the three dots in the top right of your screen > More Tools > Clear browsing data. Then, reinstall the McAfee Webadvisor extension.
Hi All,
It has come to our attention that PDF documents do not load when using Google Chrome with the McAfee WebAdvisor extension on Microsoft Windows. This is a recent issue, only providing trouble in the last few days. If you are unable to load a PDF document from your Clear Estimates account, this is likely why. Although the PDF does not load, you can still download the PDF by right-clicking the screen and clicking 'Save as'.
How to Fix:
You can easily fix this issue by disabling the McAfee WebAdvisor extension. To do so, follow these steps:
- Click the three dots in the top right of your screen
- Click 'More Tools'
- Click 'Extensions'
- Find McAfee and click the blue bar. It should turn grey.
- Head back to Clear Estimates and load your PDF documents
Official instructions from Google:

We've done much testing on other browsers such as Edge, Firefox and Internet Explorer and do not see an issue when using the McAfee WebAdvisor. This issue appears to be isolated to Google Chrome. However, if you do use one of these other browsers and experience the issue, you can quickly apply a fix by:
- Clicking the McAfee icon in the top right of your browser.
- Click 'Options'
- Add Clear Estimates URLs to your trusted sites
Clear Estimates is in good standing with McAfee, and this issue is likely related to back end coding that conflicts with PDF loading. Our team is working to allow you to continue to use both of these applications at the same time. For now, though, you will need to disable the Chrome extension to view PDFs.
